We had amazing submissions for our fall photo contest (see here for all the winners and here for all of the wildlife photos), but Eugenia’s photo, “Afternoon bike ride through the countryside of Salzburg,” received the most votes! Here’s what she had to say about the photo and Salzburg in general:
This picture was taken in December while my friend Emily and I were on our way to a wonderful Christmas Market just outside of Salzburg. As you can see by the picture, Austria is a beautiful country and it truly holds a special place in my heart. When I first arrived, I knew no German and I worried that would hold me back from really experiencing the country but that was not true at all.
If you are thinking about studying abroad I encourage you to go to Salzburg. The Austrian people are welcoming, the culture celebrates life everyday and the views are breathtaking. I can honestly say Salzburg is a home away from home. This summer I already have the chance to go back and I am so looking forward to seeing my friends and visit my favorite restaurants and cafes.
I will never forget the fall of 2012; Salzburg was life changing and it has given me the confidence to take on so many challenges in my life; I encourage you to do the same!
