Well, my two days in London are coming to an end and while I will miss the city, I am excited to arrive in Salzburg, Austria, tomorrow. I had a great time in London; it was definitely nice to be able to relax for a couple of days from jet lag. While here I met most of the people in my program and we all seem to gel quite nicely.
We arrived early Saturday morning and, after sifting our way through customs and baggage reclaim, arrived at our hotel. From there we were free to do what we wanted for the day. While my roommate decided to catch a couple of hours of shuteye, I decided to take a stroll through Hyde Park, which was very green and full of “leash-less” dogs (not something you see too often in your public parks back in the States).
After meandering aimlessly for a while, I headed back to the hotel where, along the way, I encountered some of my fellow study abroaders. So I joined them and we cut through Hyde Park to see some of the parts of the city. Around 1:30, we headed back to the hotel, met up with some of the others, grabbed some food at a local pub called The Swan, and became better acquainted with each other over some fish and chips.
Now normally people take photos while on tours of London. However, I left my camera in the room so I have no photos to share but, in short, we covered all the major sites of London (Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral, London’s Eye, etc). I think it is safe to say that London was a success. I enjoyed my time here and wish I could extend it longer but, as I said, I am excited to arrive in Salzburg tomorrow. As I type this sentence, I realized that it is about 11:11 (make a wish!) and I have to be up in about four-and-a-half hours. So for now, good night and I look forward to my next post from Salzburg, Austria.
