My First Week in Chile

Well I have been here for a week now and I can honestly say I am surprised- but not in a bad way.

I am just surprised how similar everything is. Yes, I know that people are people, but the only real changes I see are the language, the continent and most of the food.

I have been eating a good deal of Chilean cuisine since I have arrived and I think that mayonnaise is now my official favorite condiment with ketchup coming in at a close second.

My favorite condiment since I have been in Chile.

So some of the events this week:

1) I went to orientation at my school! For me 9,000 students is a LOT. Considering that my school back in the States only has 1,200 students, UAI is much larger than I am used to!

First day on the Universidad Adolfo Ibañez (UAI) campus

2) The view from my university is AMAZING! South Carolina definitely does not have the hills or mountains that Chile does and I am enjoying every moment. Even the view from my room is amazing.

My view of the city from school. I also hear that the view at night is even better!

3) The money here is the Chilean pesos and they are so colorful and the bills are even different sizes. The larger the size the larger the amount.

So colorful and SO different!

4) And last but not least the host family that I am staying with is filled with amazing people!

My Chilean family. Everyone except my Chilean mom, because she is in Spain right now. I am excited to me her though!

One week down! More to come and more to see!
