Well, her actual title was ‘3 Reasons You Absolutely NEED to Study Abroad in Florence,’ so it’s urgent! Megan is one of our fantastic Alumni Ambassadors and she shared just a few of the reasons why she loved Florence.

1. Food

They say the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach. Well, Florence grabbed my heart and has taken it hostage! The cheese, the chocolate, and the gelato are all beyond divine, but the truth is, Italian pasta will change your life. The pasta is always fresh and homemade, and no matter what way you order it (pici, spaghetti, ravioli, gnocchi, etc. ), I promise you will feel like you are tasting a little bit of heaven and will savor every second! I will never forget, and stop drooling over, the amazing pasta dishes I enjoyed in Italy.

2. Art

Florence is home to the Uffizi, one of the oldest and most famous art museums in the world. Whether you are staring in absolute awe at paintings like The Birth of Venus, or just wandering for hours, you will not be disappointed. The city is full of art; with frescoes painted on the sides of buildings and piazzas full of statues, Florence’s rich, artistic history can be appreciated at every corner.

3. Sunset

The breathtaking sunsets will make you never want to leave Florence. Piazzale Michelangelo showcases the most magnificent view of the entire city. But the short hike up is especially worth it at sunset as the sky is painted in hues of blue, pink, purple, and orange.  Bring some friends, grab some gelato, and sit on the steps with locals as you watch the sun paint the sky with the most amazing colors you have ever seen. Another great sunset can be seen from Boboli Gardens, where the lush greens and roses will make you feel like you are in a fairy tale, or just the luckiest student in the entire world!

So tell my favorite city in the world hello for me, and enjoy every sunset, pasta dish, and painting you can!
