Anticipation and 4 Other Things

It is now almost a week before I leave for a semester abroad in Granada, Spain. I have known since February that I would be spending the fall semester in Granada and the anticipation has multiplied every week since then. I constantly day-dream about what my time in Spain will be like and every night I sleep less and less in anticipation of the many adventures I know I will partake in while abroad for four whole months. It has been a personal goal of mine for years to spend time abroad studying Spanish (hence my decision to study in Spain), immersing myself in a different culture, and even persevering through some of the discomforts of being away from home. All of these things will lead to personal growth and a more diverse view of life. I believe those who stay in one place all of their lives miss out on an opportunity to discover how much the world really has to offer.

Aside from learning new things and living in Granada, here are a few other things I’m excited about.

THE FOOD:

I have been a foodie my whole life. The only food I will not eat is raw tomatoes. Other than that I will eat anything and try anything new. I cannot wait to experience the food in Spain and try as many new things as possible. I have heard numerous good things about the churros, so I will definitely be indulging in those quite a bit, I’m sure!

THE PHOTOGRAPHY:

I have been interested in photography my whole life and have become quite skilled in taking good pictures over the years. One of my favorite activities is going out and taking pictures of anything and everything I find beautiful, interesting, and unique. I know Spain will present me with many opportunities to capture amazing photographs, and even better- Instagrams!

THE LANGUAGE:

I love the Spanish language and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be thrown into a culture where I will be forced to practice my Spanish. My hope is to come back home speaking as closely to fluent as possible.

THE ADVENTURES AND THE PEOPLE:

While in Spain, I know I will have the opportunity to travel around vother parts of Europe with my fellow classmates. I cannot wait to wander around and get lost in as many new and beautiful places as possible. The friends I make while doing so will be priceless as well!

I am ecstatic to begin my experiences abroad and I hope you continue to follow me on my adventures!! xoxo
