Myrtos Beach, Kefalonia, Greece
Thrillist recently came out with their list of Europe’s 6 Best Beaches, and they are all spectacular. Since summer is coming up (woohoo!) here are a list of the best places to study abroad to visit each beach.
1. Platja de Ses Illetes – Formentera, Spain
Study in: Barcelona or Florence
Catch a flight to Ibiza, then take the ferry its more low-key neighbor Formenera. Ryanair flies to Ibiza from Barcelona or Pisa (about 45 minutes from Florence!) so find a cheap flight and pack your beach gear!
2. Porthcurno – Cornwall, UK
Study in: London
From London’s Paddington Station you can catch the train to Penzance, putting you in the heart of Cornwall. Get a night train, spend the 7-8 hour trip sleeping and wake up at the beach!
3. Myrtos Beach – Kefalonia, Greece
Study in: London, Florence or Athens
Athens is the obvious choice, and there are plenty of flight options. Ryanair flies directly to Kefalonia from London Stansted and Pisa (45 minutes from Florence) so London and Florence students can hop on a flight too!
4. Rabbit Beach – Lampedusa, Italy
Study in: Florence or Rome
Probably the hardest to reach, Alitalia operates flights and you can also catch the ferry from Sicily. Book early for good rates on flights, and even ferry tickets should be booked in advance to secure a space.
5. Fuerteventura – Canary Islands, Spain
Study in: Barcelona or London
The Canary Islands are closer to Africa than Europe, but they are surprisingly accessible. Ryanair operates flights to five of the Canary Islands, with direct flights to Fuereventura from Barcelona and London Stansted.
6. Vik – Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland
Study in: London
And for the really adventurous, catch a flight from London to Reykjavik and make your way east to get to Vík í Mýrdal. Flights can be expensive, but if you plan in advance you can find a good deal.
