Congratulations to the ten Virginia Commonwealth University students who have been awarded summer scholarships through the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program.
VCU students will truly be all over the world, studying in such diverse places as France, Denmark, China, South Africa, Barbados, Thailand and Mexico. And congratulations to Cherell, a Gilman winner and marketing major, who will participate in the AIFS San Jose, Costa Rica program!
All AIFS Gilman Scholarship recipients receive an additional $500 grant towards their program. If you’re interested in study abroad for the summer or semester, the Gilman Program is an excellent resource for undergraduate scholarships.
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. The scholarship program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by the Institute of International Education.
The next application cycle will be for spring 2016 and applications will open in August. Find out more about how to apply for a Gilman Scholarship here and learn about AIFS scholarships on our website.
