The first thing that comes to mind when I hear “Santorini” is majestic. It is a place unlike any other; it is unique and beautiful in every way possible. The pictures that everyone has seen on Pinterest don’t even begin to do Santorini justice; one cannot capture all the beauty that Santorini encompasses.
The most magical place in Santorini would have to be Oia. Oia is a quaint little town located on the edge of the caldera. The houses are white as snow with royal blue accents; the more vibrant the architecture the better. There are cute little shops to browse with restaurants and cafes nestled in amongst them.
Oia is also where The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was filmed. The water is as blue as can be and the sunset is something you want to see every day for the rest of your life. I can imagine why people would want to retire here and why it is perfect for any film.
The food in Santorini is very good, but more expensive than Athens, but that is also true with souvenirs and clothing. The seafood is freshly caught and tastes amazing. I had the fried squid and the rings were gigantic!
Some of the others girls had the stuffed squid. It was a whole squid (head and all) with slits through its body and stuffed. I had never seen one prepared as such, but it was very good.
A beach not to miss would be Perissa Beach. It is a very long black sand beach that stretches on for miles. The water is freezing, but beautiful and there are free chairs with little tiki huts! The view of the mountain and hills was spectacular.
I will never forget the amazing weekend I had in Santorini with some amazing friends! It is wonderfully unique place that everyone should add to their bucket list.
