The Final Week

It’s hard to believe that a week from today I’ll be back in my own bed, hugging my family, eating pie at grandma’s for the 4th of July and breathing in the California sea air. How did six weeks fly by so quickly? It seems like just yesterday that I arrived in London not sure what to expect.

I’ve gone to Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Eaten more fish and chips than I thought possible

I will have seen a total of seven shows (three in the West End and four at the Globe Theater)

Got up close and personal with Joey from War Horse at West End Live, a day of free theater!

Got to say goodbye to an American icon

And allowed my nerdiness to shine through…many times

Honestly, I never dreamed I would have this chance, this once in a lifetime chance to live a dream I’ve had since I was 11. As you can see, I’ve had a blast since I arrived six weeks ago. I’ve played on the Globe stage, run around Kensington like a chicken with its head cut off because I heard a store sold root beer and peanut butter (honestly these two things are so hard to find here!) and made silly faces at brownies and tea. Basically, I’m your typical theater nerd who was released into the wild and loved every second of it. London is a magical place, its like Disneyland for Anglophiles (Americans obsessed with British Culture).

Anyway, I’m starting to finish my final homework assignments and, sadly, beginning to pack. My heart is heavy and honestly, I didn’t think it would be. I don’t want to say goodbye. So I’ll just say see you soon, London. I still have a week left with you but that will go by so fast. Memories last forever and so do goofy pictures with people you will always remember.

Take it from someone who doesn’t leave her confront zone much. Take it from someone who has always felt like this would stay a dream. If you want to go to London, go through AIFS. This experience has been one I will never ever forget.
