“How lucky am I to have something that is so hard to say goodbye to”
Karlin studied abroad with us in London this past fall semester and sent us this lovely message about her time abroad.
Saying thank you to AIFS is simply not enough; and saying “my experience was life changing” does not suffice. My adventure was so much more than that.
When one thinks about going abroad they think of traveling, culture, food…finding time to do homework. I didn’t realize how quickly London would become my new home, let alone how quickly I would fall in love with it. Studying abroad widened my perspective on the world, broadened my taste in food, and gave me skills I will use forever. I learned how to pick up a foreign language quickly so I could communicate, how to navigate cities by myself, and trust complete strangers. Thank you AIFS for giving me experiences that will stay with me a lifetime, life lessons I would have never learned by staying in my comfort zone, and friends that have become family. To those who I have met on my adventure, especially the AIFS London staff, Anderson and Nicki, I thank you for the memories, the laughs and the long talks.
I cannot thank you all enough for your help in making our experience so memorable, and I am sure all of our children will one day study abroad through AIFS. I thought you would enjoy the pictures, we all wore our home university shirts!
