We are delighted to report that our January Term in Cuba has been named a finalist in the Innovative New Program category for the GoAbroad Innovation Awards. The program was nominated as a ground-breaking opportunity to study abroad in Cuba with AIFS.
We’ll find out June 2nd at a reception during the 2016 NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo if it wins.

Study Abroad in Cuba
Havana: New in 2017! We are excited to offer an unprecedented opportunity to visit Cuba and study intensive Spanish language and culture for January Term 2017! Students have the chance to explore the beautiful landscape, rich culture and unique architecture of this tropical island that has been largely off limits in recent history. The evolving relationship between Cuba and the U.S. makes this an exciting time for anyone interested in world affairs. What a fantastic time to be a student!
On this program, you’ll interact with Cuban students for cultural exchange and language practice. In addition to coursework, you’ll visit sites from Colonial, Republican and Revolutionary times. Explore Old Havana, the Museum of the Revolution and Revolution Square in addition to modern sustainability efforts on an excursion to Las Terrazas. An optional excursion to Playa Girón, Bay of Pigs and Trinidad is also available. This is an award-nominated opportunity to study abroad in Cuba, earn 3 semester credits and have the experience of a lifetime.
This program spans 3 weeks, from January 3–21. If you are interested in the chance to study abroad in Cuba, this is the perfect course to earn 3 semester credits over winter break. Official transcripts issued by University of Havana will be sent to your home institution upon completion of the program.
