Molly Wood student at Santa Rosa Junior College shares with us why she chose to study abroad in Florence. This is Molly’s second time studying abroad with AIFS and we love hearing about her passion for traveling.
“I caught the travel bug from my grandparents at a young age. My first solo trip was studying abroad in Barcelona in the Fall Semester of 2015. Living in Barcelona opened my eyes to the world and I would not be who I am today or on the path I am without that experience.
I started my first semester abroad as a Biology major and ended it as an International Business major. Had I not studied abroad that semester, I would still be working towards a career that I would not truly be happy in. I met some lifelong friends, lived around the corner from FC Barcelona’s stadium, traveled all across Spain, ate tapas for dinner almost every night, and learned more about myself than I had in a very long time. I will be forever grateful for that opportunity.
With that said, I was yearning for another solo adventure and made a very last minute decision to enrol with AIFS again and study abroad in Florence. This place is a dream and I love exploring this historical city with a new adventure around every corner. Every morning I walk along the Arno past Ponte Vecchio on the way to school. This coming semester abroad will allow me to continue discovering myself and all I can and will accomplish in the vast, fascinating world. I know Italy has a whole lot more in store for me and boy am I excited!”- Molly Wood

Pioneered by AIFS, customized faculty-led study abroad programs (partnership programs), are formal arrangements between AIFS and educational institutions in which AIFS provides logistical support, student services, classrooms, housing facilities and cultural activities at a location abroad, plus student medical and program fee refund insurances and over $50 million of liability insurance for the U.S. college/university. This arrangement enables institutions to conduct their own academic programs abroad at minimal expense for four weeks and upward (including semester). In order to keep costs affordable, programs require at least 12 to 15 students per faculty participating. Learn more about AIFS Customized Faculty-Led Programs.
