Name: Angelina Donaldson | School: Santa Rosa Junior College
Ciao! As a Northern California native, vino, quality local food, and scenic landscape have become an integral part of what I value—and who may or may not do this better than us Californians? The Italians of course! Growing up, I attended Fourth of July festivities with my large Italian family and always left with a full tummy, hundreds of kisses on my cheeks, and a happy heart. Choosing to study abroad in the land of endless carbs was an easy choice for me — Florence had everything I desired. It’s a smaller town with both urban and country action, easy access to nearby cities such as Rome, Pisa, Lucca, and Cinque Terre; and the rich history is both up high (The Duomo) and down low (cool street artwork on most buildings). I’m grateful to study through Santa Rosa Junior College and am hoping my “study abroad” experience will turn into a “life abroad” somewhere!
Name: Jamie Mertle | School: Santa Rosa Junior College
My name is Jamie Mertle and I attend Santa Rosa Junior College in California. I chose to study abroad in Florence, Italy because of all Italy encapsulated – gelato, pizza, art and Italian scenery. Florence just happened to be the location in Italy that was offered and I could not be more pleased; well, over the moon is a better description. It is more than I could have ever imagined! I am somebody that is looking for a new adventure at every turn which includes exploring, playing my favorite sport (volleyball), or settling inside with a good book or movie. I enjoy meeting others and just the spontaneity of life and all that comes with it!
Name: JoEllen Laun | School: Mount Saint Mary’s University
My name is JoEllen Laun from York, PA. I am a junior at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD. I have always wanted to study abroad and London has been somewhere I’ve always wanted to go. I love traveling, exploring and fashion and London couldn’t be a better place to experience it all. I don’t really have any fun facts other than I’m from a very large Greek family and when I was ten I ate a fish’s eye, which wasn’t very tasty, but cool I guess.
Name: Carly Neducsin | School: Temple University
Hi, my name is Carly Neducsin, I am from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. London has always been a dream destination of mine due to its rich culture and thriving theatre scene. I love exploring, making new friends and trying new things. A fun/weird fact about me is that I really enjoy yoga.
Name: Karolina Klata | School: University of Wyoming
My name is Karolina Klatka and I’m currently studying Dance at the University of Wyoming. My dual Polish-American heritage has opened my world and I have been able to visit family and study abroad in Poland. This time my focus was on furthering my education in dance, and the University of Wyoming has a wonderful program that highly recommends studying abroad in London. I’m excited to be surrounded by the dance culture in London while taking classes for credit. One thing I’m always on the lookout for is quality coffee shops. Sometimes I even make maps of their locations!
Name: Bianca Guerrero | School: Mira Costa College
My name is Bianca Guerrero. I live in San Diego California and am a student at Mira Costa College. I chose to study abroad in Barcelona, Spain because visiting Spain has always been a dream of mine, and when this opportunity came around I had to go! Being Mexican and knowing how to speak Spanish was also another incentive because I knew that it would help with communication barriers, as well as allow me to relate to the culture. A fun fact about myself is that I am a Cognitive Science major and eventually would like to be a science journalist, and a professor later on in life.
Name: Sabrina Medina | School: Antelope Valley College
My name is Sabrina Medina and I am 18 years old. I attend Antelope Valley College in Palmdale, California. I am choosing between American Sign Language (ASL) and Environmental Science as my major. I want to transfer to either the University of California at Santa Cruz or Long Beach University, depending on the major I choose. I picked Barcelona as the location I wanted study abroad because I could not wait another semester to explore and live in another country. It is absolutely beautiful and I’m so happy that I did not wait. A fun fact about myself is that I have been a vegetarian for about seven years.
