AIFS Customized Faculty-Led Student profile: Meet Kailee in Florence

Kailee, a student at Santa Rosa Junior College, explains why she chose to study abroad. We are excited to share with you the highlights of Kailee’s experience during her semester living and studying in Florence.

Hello my name is Kailee Orsi, I am a second year college student studying at Santa Rosa Junior College. My desire to study abroad began last year when I realized I wanted to escape the normality of college life. My main focus was to break through my comfort zone, meet new people and develop a greater perspective of the world around me. I felt a strong calling to broaden my horizons and I was open to studying abroad anywhere. After some research I decided to study in Florence and it has been the perfect location to explore and meet new people.

Although time is flying by quickly I consciously make an effort to enjoy the moment. Some of my favourite times have been traveling on spontaneous weekend trips with friends and attempting to converse with the cute Italian barista. Out of all the wonderful things encompassed in studying abroad, it has been amazing to see that cultures and customs do not separate humans. Ultimately we all have the same desires and dreams, these are the things that unite us. Out of everything has been the most beautiful lesson to learn.
