Mariah, a University of North Texas student, recently returned to Brixen — a beautiful gem hidden in the Dolomites mountain range of the Italian Alps — after studying abroad there with AIFS last winter for J-Term. After reflecting on her three-week study abroad experience, she shares:
“A unique blend of Italian and Austrian cultures, powerful traditions and an immersion experience with both the local people, as well as the natural environment, made my experience with the AIFS Dolomites [Brixen] program a truly special one.
Skiing in the Dolomites was a thrilling experience that gave me the opportunity to connect with the South Tyrolean culture by skiing side by side with locals and developing a sincere appreciation for the natural beauty of the region.
Additionally, being a small group allowed each of us to get to know one another, as well as our professor and director, on a personal level, which made my time abroad much more enjoyable and created memories that I will never forget!
This program is perfect for students who wish to experience the culture of another country in a place that feels very authentic, warm and welcoming, while also experiencing a bit of adventure and enjoying wonderful food and wine!”
