January 2019 programs are here, and we couldn’t be more excited to announce our new and returning programs for next year’s winter session!

With 15 January programs offered at some of our most popular and exciting study abroad locations, you’re sure to find the perfect location to suit your interests. New for 2019, we’re offering programs in Prague, Czech Republic, and Stellenbosch, South Africa!

Our 2-3 week January Term programs provide a cost-effective and efficient way to fit a short-term study abroad experience into your busy academic calendar. Try something new and exciting over next year’s winter break! All programs include housing and a meal plan, organized social and cultural activities, excursions and field trips, an on-site Resident Director, support services, and more. An optional AIFS Flight Package is also available.

Costa Rica

San José: Students interested in health care and medicine won’t want to miss this two-week opportunity to study health and human sciences in Costa Rica’s lively capital city.

Czech Republic

Prague: New in 2019! Study the history of film and current developments in European film making in this charming, picturesque European capital city. Outside of class, participants can explore the city, stroll over the beautiful Charles Bridge, enjoy coffee and cake in one of Prague’s many iconic cafés or enjoy a musical performance in one of Prague’s excellent concert venues.

Ecuador

The Galápagos Islands: This immersion in the legendary Galápagos Islands is a must for students looking for a firsthand chance to experience the diverse ecology and important conservation work in this region.

England

London: History and literature buffs will jump at the chance to study abroad in jolly old England  and explore this world center of politics, sports, culture and finance.

France

Paris: Selecting between a fine arts course in French Fashion at the Sorbonne or a Parisian architecture class at the Institut de Langue et de Culture Françaises, students in the City of Light immerse themselves in French culture and enjoy an included visit to Versailles, the opulent palace of King Louis XIV.

Germany

Berlin: Choose from classes in German culture, language, history, law, music, politics, religion and social science, and take in the history, culture and modernity of this eclectic, edgy city.

Greece

Athens: Living and learning in the birthplace of democracy, students select from courses in archaeology, international business and history and experience an affordable slice of modern European life.  

India

Hyderabad: Spend three weeks in the technology hub of India for a rare opportunity to experience the confluence of Hindu and Muslim faiths and rich Indian culture, while simultaneously living in a modern, cosmopolitan city. Study history/social science in the Contemporary India course.  

Ireland

Dublin: The architecture, people, history and culture of Ireland’s capital city provide an unforgettable backdrop for the opportunity to study Irish literature at the renowned Trinity College Dublin. Excursions such as a Game of Thrones tour and day trip to Wicklow and Glendalough help you take in the dramatic beauty of the Irish landscape. 

Maynooth: Spend three weeks in the beautiful, historic college town of Maynooth, just fifteen miles west of Dublin city center. Take a service learning course, Young People, Youth Culture and Youth Services in Ireland.   

Italy

Brixen: With a 3-day ski pass and the history/anthropology course Italian Food and Culture, a delicious adventure awaits you in the heart of the Italian Alps! From a comfortable residence in the heart of historic Brixen, you’ll have access to local ski areas in the Dolomite mountain range and study the regional gastronomic traditions of Italy. 

Rome: Spend three amazing weeks surrounded by historic landmarks and museums while living and learning in the Eternal City. Take a course in art history, Italian language and culture, religion, sociology or psychology and enjoy sightseeing and social activities for a taste of the limitless cultural attractions of Rome.

South Africa

Stellenbosch: New in 2019! Take in the culture and breathtaking natural beauty of South Africa, studying travel photography at Stellenbosch University followed by a photography tour through the stunning scenery of the Western Cape.

Spain

Barcelona: Spend two weeks studying Spanish art and culture or international business among the golden medieval buildings of incomparable Barcelona. The city boasts a rich cultural and artistic heritage along with a Mediterranean climate, perfect for studying over your winter break.   

Salamanca: Students interested in Spanish language and culture will love this opportunity to spend January term in a beautiful university city with gorgeous Cathedrals, museums and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
