VLOG: London Design Festival and Brighton

by AIFS Study Abroad

This week I explored the London Design Festival which means that I spent a lot of time searching out as many art installations as I could before they all closed. This festival included forts, sculptures, interactive lights, music videos, roaring lions, and even a talk about how Art Deco is still influential today. I learned so much!

The 2018 London Design Festival was definitely a great opportunity to find my way around the not-so-touristy parts of London and see what the locals get up to. I also took the chance to visit the Sky Garden, which is completely free by the way! It is a tall building in the City of London business district. It has an observation deck and indoor garden at the top. During my second week in London, AIFS organized a cultural day trip to Brighton. We explored this beautiful seaside town and beach as well as seeing the amazing views from the i360 viewing platform!

Even though I’m having such a great time here I really want to be honest about how being homesick is a real part of travelling (even though I used to not think it was). If you are having a hard time, or if you’re worried about being homesick, there’s nothing wrong with missing home. It’s normal. Just be sure to not miss the opportunities to grow that are all around you (:
