Has winter made you sick with the travel bug? On grey, snowy days, it’s safe to say that winter makes many of us dream of exploring elsewhere. Fortunately, summer isn’t as far away as you’d think – and winter gives us plenty of time to plan for warmer days ahead. Here at AIFS Study Abroad, we’ve been doing just that, and we have a few favorites on our list of must-see destinations for summer 2020.
Here are 6 amazing cities to explore in the summer of 2020.
1. Berlin, Germany
In the summer, visitors flock to Berlin and its scenic parks for picnics on clear afternoons, or to outdoor theaters for shows on starry evenings. This summer is also the perfect time to explore Berlin’s many monuments and museums. The entire city transforms into a living, breathing history book.
2. Buenos Aires, Argentina
From tango lessons to talking walls and many museums to tour, colorful Buenos Aires is one of the most inspiring cities to study Spanish in and to visit. Plus, in the summer, Buenos Aires’ mild climate provides a refreshing escape from sweltering hot summer temperatures. The summer season in Argentina’s capital city is generally cooler than summertime in the United States, but the cool weather makes exploring easy and enjoyable.
4. London, England
London comes to life in the summer with an array of outdoor markets, concerts, and festivals. Whether you’d prefer to cheer on a rugby match, watch a show at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater, or sit back and enjoy afternoon tea, London offers endless summer activities for you to choose from. The amount of history in London makes the whole city a classroom and history buffs will thrive during summer study abroad programs there.
5. Paris, France
Paris’ many gorgeous parks and gardens are absolutely stunning in the summer. Picture perfect summer days in Paris include leisurely strolls to museums like the Louvre, followed by evening river rides to admire the Eiffel Tower’s glistening lights. That makes summer a dream time for art and architecture enthusiasts to study abroad in Paris – and, luckily, our European Art and Architecture Program includes a 4-night stop in the City of Love.
6. Perth, Australia
If you’ve ever dreamed of visiting the Land Down Under, the capital of Western Australia should be at the top of your list of places to see. In and around Perth, there is so much to discover – including spectacular national parks, awe-inspiring marine and wildlife, white sand beaches, and three-billion-year-old mountain ranges. It’s an incomparable place to explore subjects like history and storytelling or tropical marine biology, especially during a summer term.
