AIFS Program: San José, Costa Rica
My name is Karla Alba, I am 21 turning 22 years old. (Yes, I will be celebrating my birthday abroad). I am from the smallest state in America, Rhode Island. I am a 5th year student at the University of Rhode Island. I am a part of the Talent Development program which allows underprivileged students the financial, mental, and emotional support to pursue their Bachelor’s Degree. I have studied abroad three times before joining the AIFS family in Costa Rica and have fallen in love with each country in some way. I chose to study in Costa Rica because I have always been fascinated with Latin America and its culture. I am of Dominican decent and would like to perfect my Spanish, as well as study the different dialects of the Spanish language. It is said that Costa Rica is the happiest place on earth, and we can all use a little happiness. One fun fact about me would be is that I write spoken word poetry and perform occasionally.
