AIFS Program: Study + Travel (Multi-Destination): European Art and Architecture | School: Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville | Bio: Hello, Hallo, Bonjour, and Ciao! I’m Brittney, and I will be entering my final year at SIUE. Previously an Art Education major, I made an instinctive switch to Art History just before studying abroad on the AIFS European Art and Architecture program. This whirlwind adventure took me through six different countries in just four short weeks, and allowed me to see and experience more than I’ve ever known in my life. Before I had left, I’d never been out of the country or traveled without someone I already knew; I’d never even set foot on an airplane! I knew that this trip was going to be a life-changer, and was determined that those changes would be for the better. Though my experience was short, and not without struggle, I left Europe calling it home. I went into academic year 2016-2017 armed with everything I learned about art history and global culture, and couldn’t be happier with my decision to refocus my major. After graduation, I hope to further this experience by turning it into a career in International Education. As for going into 2017-2018, I’m honored to call myself an AIFS Ambassador, and cannot wait to share my experience with others in a way that inspires them to step out of their own comfort zones and take the fantastic leap into Study Abroad!
