Interested in having an incredible adventure this fall semester? Consider studying abroad in Athens, Greece with AIFS! With its ancient architecture and stunning landscape, it’s easy to see why Athens is one of the most alluring study abroad destinations. And with all the cultural activities and excursions included in your program, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Greece’s vibrant culture and history.
Here’s why you’ll love studying abroad in Athens during your fall semester:
1. Academics in Athens
➡️ Psst! Did you know? You don’t need to speak Greek to study abroad in Athens.
Earn up to 15 credits through the Full Curriculum Program at DEREE – The American College of Greece (ACG). The campus is located on a picturesque hillside in the suburb of Aghia Paraskevi. With a student population of over 2,500, you’ll have lots of opportunities to make new friends abroad. Interested in befriending locals? If so, you’re in luck — over 85% of the student population year-round is Greek.
The Full Curriculum Program means that you can choose any course from ACG’s entire curriculum, so long as you meet any course prerequisites. And you’ll have tons of course options — there are over 1,000 courses taught in English available across a variety of subject fields, including courses in STEM, business, healthcare and sports management.
There are also volunteer opportunities available to students studying abroad in Athens during the fall semester. ACG arranges a Meaningful Engagement Trip (MET) where students spend 2-3 days traveling in Greece engaging in service each semester. Interested in enhancing your résumé? On-campus internship opportunities are available as well through ACG.
2. Excursions and Cultural Activities
When you study abroad in Athens during the fall semester with AIFS, you can further immerse yourself in the history and culture of Greece through a range of excursions and activities included in your program fee.

And much more!
3. Life in Athens
Great news — when you study abroad in Athens with AIFS, your program fee includes housing. Live in a beautiful student residence complex located in the leafy suburb of Aghia Paraskevi (about a 10-15 minute walk to your campus). The student residence complex features quiet study areas, outdoor areas for BBQs and a large lobby with TV and games. You’ll also enjoy the convenience of a fully-equipped kitchen, complementary on-site laundry facilities and a fitness center.
While in Athens, you’ll also benefit from state-of-the-art sports facilities at ACG, as well as some of the dynamic programs offered by the college. This includes the ACG Philoxenia Cultural Exchange Program. Through this optional program, study abroad students (like you!) are paired with Greek students to foster friendship and cultural exchange.
