We are proud to announce that AIFS Abroad is a finalist for the prestigious Award for Advancing the SDGs Through Education Abroad from the Forum on Education Abroad. Underpinned by the United Nations’ seventeen Sustainable Development Goals, this award is particularly rewarding and complex as it strives to reconcile our global intercultural work with the substantial climate footprint it can create.
The nomination stems from our renowned efforts in Sustainability, one of AIFS Abroad’s foundational pillars. Through practices like carbon offsetting for international travel, pursuing greater Access, Inclusion, Equity and Diversity in our programs, and integrating sustainability into curricula and co-curricula through our Green Initiative, AIFS Abroad is taking meaningful steps toward more sustainable, critical global programs.
The Forum noted, “[AIFS Abroad] recently created a new, comprehensive mission and vision statement to reflect their internal purpose and their commitment to external impact relating to global education abroad. They have thoughtfully created and rebuilt their global education programs to ensure their activities, internally and externally, align with the SDGs. Their public commitments and transparent reporting on Access, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (AIDE) and their Green Initiative demonstrate leadership and accountability and should be applauded.”
Recipients will be announced at the Forum on Education Annual Conference in March 2024.
