AIFS Alumni Ambassador, Keely, shares five of her favorite food establishments in London, England!

1. Cereal Killer Cafe

They have every single cereal box and or action figure all throughout the place. Cereal Killer Cafe, located on Brick Lane, is a trip down memory lane. Downstairs, they have different TVs playing old school cartoons. The menu is nothing but the basics: pop tarts, cereals, and toast. I had myself the Krave S’mores! If you have the biggest sweet tooth like me, I highly recommend going here. If I had to rate this on a scale from 1-10, it’d get a solid nine for bringing me back to my childhood.

2. Nandos

This was one of my favorite when I was in London. Everyone talks about Nandos and I had to see it for myself — I absolutely loved it. It’s a chain, and a lot of them are located in the United Kingdom. You especially need to try it if you love spicy food.  I had both wings and chicken breasts. If you don’t eat meat, they have options for vegetarians. The atmosphere was extremely colorful and nice to be in. It was fun to eat great food and just to be around friends. If I had to rate this, I’d give it a solid 10.

3. St. John’s Restaurant

It’s very non-traditional cuisine where you can try kidneys, liver, and different items like that. It was a unique experience! For dessert we had madeleines, which is a small traditional cake. They were hot and yummy! If I had to rate this restaurant, I’d give it an 8.5. It was a fun experience.

4. Mangal 2 Restaurant

There they were, right when we went inside. We were seated at a very cute table and it was absolutely wonderful. To eat, we had rice, chicken, beef, and vegetables. It was another experience where I was able to try new things to see what I liked. If I had to rate this restaurant, I’d give it a 9 — for having great food, and for Gilbert & George.

5. Tortilla

Chipotle has nothing on this restaurant. The Mexican food they serve was delicious. It felt healthy, fresh, and lean. I’m a avid eater of Mexican food and it was good amount of spice for someone who can tolerate a lot of it. It was nice to try something new in a different country; it wasn’t what I was expecting to get whatsoever. I would have to rate this a solid 10 for the quality and the speediness of the delivery.
